Jim Spaulding
Maintenance Director

Hi, I was adopted into the CAES family in 2002 as a part-time custodian on the night shift. Six months later there was an opening for the Maintenance Supervisor position and I was eligible to take on that role. My qualifications for this position come from three years of studies in Building Trades at RAVTC. My studies were carpentry science, construction management, electrician, HVAC, locksmith and plumbing technology. I received two apprentice certificates; one in electrical and one in plumbing.

I also spent one year working for the Governor's Committee in the CETA Program. I was the supervisor of a construction team made up of ten special needs young adults. I was teaching them parts of the construction trade so they could become productive members in society. Our task was to make Rutland and Proctor area school ADA compliant.

My accomplishments are seven years as the fiberglass department manager at Clopay Overhead Doors, ten years as the base department manager at Merillat Cabinetmakers, and 10 years as the operations manager at Ames department stores.

I have a big family. My wife Mary and I both work here at CAES and love it. We had two children here at CAES, Timothy S. Spaulding and Cassandra M. Spaulding. I also have three young adult children from my previous marriage, James H. Spaulding 3rd, Naomi L. Spaulding, and Allen L. Spaulding. We are a very tight and loving family.

I am an Eagle Boy Scout, so my hobbies are vast for example, camping, hiking, boating, archery, skeet shooting, fishing, building models, puzzling, listening to all kinds of music, and just enjoying life.
